Raise3D E3: The new IDEX 3D printer for flexible and high-performance applications

With the Raise3D E3, Raise3D presents a versatile and powerful IDEX 3D printer that has been specially developed to meet the requirements of prototyping and small series production – especially when flexible and reinforced materials come into play.

In this article, we take a look at the strengths and possible applications of the E3, highlight its core features and explain who is particularly likely to benefit from using it.

Why the E3 is relevant

Raise3D itself describes the E3 as “Elastic, Engineering-grade, Expandable” – in other words, elastic, engineering-grade and expandable.
The E3 is positioned as the successor or evolutionary development of the E2 and E2CF models and combines their proven features with new functions for greater speed and material diversity.

At the launch at the FABTECH 2025 trade fair, particular emphasis was placed on the fact that the E3 has been optimized for printing TPU (flexible material) and composite materials – with up to 200 mm/s as the target speed for certain materials.

Key features and technical highlights

Here is an overview of the outstanding features of the Raise3D E3:

FunctionDescription / Advantage
IDEX system (dual extruder, independently movable)The E3 supports mirror, duplication, dual-color and dual-material modes. This allows you to print in parallel or realize creative multi-material combinations.
Print speed up to 200 mm/sEspecially with the optional Flexible Filament Auxiliary Feeder, this printer should also process flexible filaments such as TPU very quickly and reliably.
Flexible Filament Auxiliary FeederAn additional system that improves the feed behavior with flexible materials to enable higher speeds and lower printing errors.
Composite filament compatibilityWith an optional print head, materials such as PET-CF, PET-GF or PPS-CF can be processed.
Pro IroningA function that achieves a very smooth surface – combined with suitable filaments, a surface with < 2 µm roughness can be achieved.
Material management & reliabilityThe built-in features include: Material storage chutes with desiccant, end of filament sensors, power failure detection / power loss recovery.
Auto Bed Leveling & Substrate Printing9-point leveling and substrate printing (for certain materials / substrates) facilitate preparation and offer creative possibilities.
Wide range of nozzles & material optionsStandard nozzle 0.4 mm; also supports 0.2 / 0.6 / 0.8 / 1.0 mm. Wide material compatibility thanks to the Open Material Program (OMP).

Possible areas of application & target groups

The E3 is particularly interesting for:

  • Research & Development: Rapid prototyping with materials that require special properties (e.g. flexibility, composite materials).

  • Low-volume production / small batches: Thanks to IDEX duplication mode, several identical parts can be efficiently produced in parallel.

  • Industries with high requirements: Automotive, aerospace, medical technology – wherever material diversity, precision and reliability are required.

  • Manufacturers of flexible components: e.g. shoes, TPU parts, flexible joints etc. According to the manufacturer, this is where the E3 shows its strength.

Limits & considerations

No printer is perfect – some aspects to consider:

  • Acquisition costs / accessories required: Accessories are required for full functionality (e.g. aux feeder, composite heads).

  • Complexity & setup: The large number of features requires expertise in parameter settings and material combinations.

  • Material validation: Even though OMP allows many options, success is highly dependent on material quality, calibration and environment.

  • Print volume in dual extruder mode: In dual mode, the usable installation space volume is reduced.
